On Friday the girls both had their twice yearly check-ups at the dentist. We've been taking Kaylee every six months since she was 1, but they've never been able to do much since she would scream the whole time. They would always tell us that everything looked great...blah, blah, blah. Anyway, Friday they were finally able to take some x-rays and it turns out she has two cavities. They are both so big that they can't fill them, they have to CAP them. Yup, cap them. And they only do kids caps in silver since they are so tiny. They are on either side on the bottom so of course you'll be able to see them, but thankfully they are in the back.
I was a little frustrated since they have never insisted on getting x-rays before Friday and the dentist said that she's had one of the cavities for at least a year. WHAT??? She never complained about it so we didn't know. He said they were from not flossing, but that we do a good job of brushing. Whoops, my fault. I can barely remember to floss my own teeth, plus remember to brush the girls' teeth too, flossing never really crossed my mind. I give them both floride tablets at night too so I thought I was being good. I feel lousy. Poor Kaylee.
So they are going to cap them when we get home from California. She was really sad at the dentist since he had to spend a long time going over the process (early morning appt., she'll drink happy juice that will make her sleepy, then a little gas, and 10 min. later she'll be good to go) Sounds easy enough right???
Hahahaha, not looking forward to that at all. Beau tried to make her feel better by saying that she'll have cool pirate teeth now. Judging from the picture below not a good example. Maybe if she were missing random teeth then she would look like a pirate. Now she keeps asking how long until she gets her "pirate teeth" on.
Then it was Presley's turn. They just had her lay back on Beau's lap and he took a look at her mouth. He sort of chuckles and says, "Wow, you don't see baby teeth this crooked very often."
Thanks Mr. Dentist. Just what I wanted to hear after Kaylee's teeth issues. We already knew this about Pres though, totally runs in the family unfortunately. Both my Dad and I have super small mouths, or at least I did before two rounds of braces and them yanking 6 teeth out and spreading my mouth apart. It was a LONG process. Guess we have that to look forward too in the next few years. Yipee!
Beau and I both go to the dentist in December....can't wait for that good news!
Except I've never had a cavity, so the bad news is always from Beau's mouth, lucky him.
